Onyx Environmental Services - Port Arthur Facility

Onyx - Port Arthur sits on 3,100 total acres of which 450 acres have been actively used for waste management. This facility was opened in 1975 as a land-farm and hazardous waste landfill. In 1989, Onyx - Port Arthur completed construction of a rotary kiln incinerator that is capable of destroying RCRA and TSCA bulk solids, sludges, bulk liquids, combustible containers, and steel drums that meet specifications. There is one primary burner and several waste burners located on the faceplate of the kiln that operate to maintain temperatures above 1,300oF. In the vertical Secondary Combustion Chamber (SCC) eight vortex burners encircle the interior and are angled to induce rotational movement of the flue gases.
